Terms of Service

Last updated 1 September 2026

These Terms govern your use of LawAI (the “Service”), an online exam-preparation platform operated from Kenya. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Who can use LawAI

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. You agree to give accurate registration information and to keep it up to date. Each account is for one person: do not share your login.

2. What LawAI is, and is not

LawAI provides practice questions, AI-graded essay feedback, a study tutor, and progress tracking to help you prepare for a bar examination. It is a study aid.

  • It is not legal advice and does not create a lawyer–client relationship.
  • Questions, explanations, and AI responses are generated with automated tools and may not reflect the current law. Always check primary sources.
  • We do not guarantee any exam result. Your performance depends on many factors outside our control.

3. Accounts and security

You are responsible for activity under your account. Keep your password confidential and tell us promptly at info@lawai.bar if you suspect unauthorised access. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms or is used unlawfully.

4. Plans, payments and renewals

  • Prices are shown in Kenyan Shillings and are charged through our payment processor by M-Pesa or card. We do not store full card details.
  • A day pass gives access for 24 hours and then lapses automatically; it does not renew.
  • A monthly plan continues for successive months until you stop it or the payment fails. You can move up a tier at any time; you can only move to a lower tier once your current plan ends.
  • Because the Service is digital and made available immediately, payments are generally non-refundable. If you were charged in error or the Service was materially unavailable, contact info@lawai.bar and we will deal with it fairly.
  • Taxes, where they apply, are your responsibility unless stated otherwise.

5. Content you upload

You may upload your own study notes and materials. You keep ownership of what you upload. You grant LawAI a licence to store and process that material to generate practice questions and answers for your own use. Do not upload material that infringes someone else’s rights, is confidential, or that you are not allowed to share (including exam board past papers you do not have permission to distribute).

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • share, resell, or sublicense your account or any content from the Service;
  • scrape, bulk-download, or systematically copy questions, answers, or other content;
  • reverse engineer the Service or interfere with its operation or security;
  • use the Service to break the law or to abuse, harass, or impersonate anyone.

7. Our content and intellectual property

The Service, and the questions, explanations, rubrics, text, and software in it, belong to LawAI or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-commercial licence to use them for your own exam preparation while your account is active. All other rights are reserved.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may update these Terms. If we make a significant change we will post it here and, where reasonable, notify you. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.

9. Ending your use

You can stop using the Service and close your account at any time from your account settings or by emailing us. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (for example sections 7, 10, and 11) will continue to apply.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, LawAI is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits or opportunities, or for exam outcomes. Our total liability to you for any claim connected with the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Kenyan law.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. The courts of Kenya have jurisdiction over any dispute, though we would prefer to resolve issues with you directly first.
